My family, October 2020.

Welcome! You’ll find that my online life is fairly sparsely populated. That is because my actual life is abundantly populated….with children, books, ideas, music, a family band, and several acres out in the country.

A short bio, for those interested:

Allison Burr is a domestic theologian, writer, and homeschooling mama to four children (ages 16, 14, 12, and 8). She also manages the family band, Rooted in Grace. She has a B.A. in history (suma cum laude) but strongly believes that most of her learning has happened subsequent to college. She has taken graduate courses in history, literature, poetry, Bible, and theology at a variety of seminaries and graduate schools around the nation. Her appetite for learning is insatiable, rivaled only by her desire to bring all things into conformity with Christ and advance the Kingdom here on earth, where God has called her to serve primarily in her home and with her children. You can learn more about her ministry of teaching here.

After a variety of stints in academia and politics, Allison’s life radically changed in 2005, when she gave life to her first child and six weeks later was given new life herself, as a Christian. Every moment since then has been a process (often painful, always redemptive) of the Lord sovereignly uprooting indwelling sin and in its stead implanting new affections devoted to the glory of God.

I am occasionally available for speaking engagements. My primary speaking and teaching interests lie in the area of the poetic life, cultivating Christian affections, spiritual disciplines, the ways in which beauty shape the Christian home, thinking like a Christian, Dorothy L. Sayers, Elizabeth Goudge, and C.S. Lewis. And, of course, anything related to theology proper!

My contact form, to begin a discussion about a speaking engagement or an interview, is here.
