    • We use this Dyson for our carpeted floors.
    • We use this Makita for all hardwood floors -- which is most of our house.  We have used and abused both of our Makitas for over 6 years now, and we L.O.V.E. them. I could not imagine maintaining victory over our floors without our Makitas, which my kids use multiple times every single day.  They are on the expensive side, though, so another good choice may be something like this.
